THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
FROM THE CEO’S DESK
What is going to happen to Your Trinity County Fair?! This question has been on my mind since March, when we entered into the current COVID-19 Pandemic, and the Trinity County Fairgrounds was closed to building rentals and events; even our annual Fair had to cancel. With Governor Newsom’s current Colored Tiers for Re-opening California, there is no Green Tier where everything is back to normal, and this leaves us questioning what 2021 will look like for our community and the Trinity County Fair. Prior to March, Fairgrounds were already struggling from the lack of state funding. California Department of Food and Agriculture oversees these resources and Governor Newsom has asked CDFA to divest from fairground facilities and land. The lack of state funds for decades has resulted in management deferring needed maintenance of buildings and grounds, causing debilitated facilities at fairgrounds throughout California. During the past few months, the same government that has ignored our fairgrounds, yet has required our services for COVID Testing Sites, Evacuation Points and Centers, and Firefighting Camps. As always, Your Trinity County Fairgrounds has risen to the call, supporting these emergency services without hesitation. It is time we required our state and federal government to acknowledge our service and put needed resources back into State and County Fairgrounds! I, along with your Trinity County Fair Association Board of Directors have written to our State Representatives in support of H.R. 7883 Agricultural Fairs Rescue Act and H.R. 7745 Protecting Fairs During Coronavirus Act. Please take the time to include your voice in support of HR 7883 and HR 7745. Sample letters can be found on our website at www.trinitycountyfair.com.
I will continue to fight for Your Trinity County Fairgrounds,
Carrie Bayley, TCFA CEO
